Call Tyrone...

I remember the very first time I heard the song "Call Tyrone".  It was 2003 and a Friday night... My husband and I had driven from our old apartment in Fredericksburg, Virginia to Richmond to meet some friends.  The gathering was at a bar and it was karaoke night.  Ordinarily, I would have taken part, but my husband was exhausted from a long day of work and a grueling schedule.  I was lucky he was conscious.  We had also gotten there pretty late.

So anyway, this rather rotund black woman gets up and sings this awesome song called "Call Tyrone". I had never heard it before, but loved it...  I searched for it in Napster or whatever the equivalent was in those days.  I downloaded it and before long, I was singing it too...

This is a pretty good breakup song... a pretty good GTFO song...  and it reminds me of a very fun night in Richmond when I was younger and cuter.

Thankfully, I don't need to sing it to my husband, nor does he have to sing this song to me...

Be warned, this song is definitely not safe for work.  It's full of f bombs...

And so is this rebuttal...

I should probably go back to listening to bluegrass for awhile after this.

  2. I like some R&B, though most of the stuff I like is old school stuff. I'm not even that familiar with Erykah Badu's music-- just that song!
