An Irish classic...

Someone on SingSnap requested that I do an Irish song, so I sang "Danny Boy".  It took some doing to get this right and it's still not exactly the way I'd want it...  But I figure since I have an Irish reader who visits regularly, I'd post it here for your...  perusal...

I made it a step higher because if I sing it in C, it's right at about the place where my head and chest voices diverge...

May the luck of the Irish be with ye!

For some reason, I felt like hearing Sinead O'Connor sing "Danny Boy" today... although I really like a lovely instrumental version done by Phil Coulter and James Galway...

Looking around YouTube, there are all sorts of interesting renditions of this song...  Are you ready for The Muppets to sing it?

How about Willie Nelson?

Or The Pogues, singing it sans teeth?

Any way it's sung, it's a pretty song.  The first time I heard it, I was in college.  Our choir performed it and I had it memorized in no time.  I've been known to break into this song quite often, especially when I'm hammered... which I may very well be at some point this weekend.  So I hope you have a lovely St. Patrick's Day...

Ill-fated blind date... St. Patrick and Medusa...
