This Place Hotel... aka Heartbreak Hotel

Back in 1980, Michael Jackson and his brothers released a song originally called "Heartbreak Hotel". It kind of reminds me of a precursor to "Thriller".  It's kind of a spooky song, though not as spooky as "Thriller" was.  It also sort of played on the same themes of infidelity that "Billie Jean" did.  The song was about going to a hotel for a romantic night with a girl, but then the staff convinces the girl that her man cheated on her.  She dumps him, thus leaving him with a broken heart.

Tito plays a guitar solo that sounds reminiscent of something George Benson would have done.

This one is done in a higher key than the original...

The title of this song was changed because it matched Elvis Presley's 1956 hit, "Heartbreak Hotel".  Little did he know that Elvis would briefly be his father in law.

Though the brothers didn't sing on this song, LaToya Jackson provided the scream.  And it looks like now that Michael is dead, Jermaine is singing lead.

I used to love this song when I was a lot younger.  I wonder what possessed Michael to change the title to "This Place Hotel", though.  I'm sure he could have come up with something better.
