The other day, I found out at that founding member of The Manhattan Transfer, Tim Hauser, died of a heart attack. Truthfully, it's been a long time since I last thought of this group known for its jazzy harmonies. As a kid, I knew them for their song "Boy From New York City", which was a hit in the early 80s. Though its 80s'ness makes me cringe a bit, I do appreciate it for its campiness and infectious charm.
The Manhattan Transfer even had a turn with disco...
Love those 80s fashions!
A few years later, I discovered their song "Walk in Love", which my dad had on a cassette mix tape I ripped off. I liked the song and never really forgot it. The news of Hauser's death reminded me of it again.
I like Laurel Masse's hula dancing and matching Hawaiian outfit.

The Twilight Zone- Twilight Tone...
And back to jazzy harmonies with "Operator"...
One of my favorite Manhattan Transfer collaborations was when they teamed up with James Taylor and sang "Dream Lover".
I actually found this song on Napster back in the early days of peer to peer sharing...
As a singer myself, I can appreciate all the goes into all those intricate harmonies and genre busting songs The Manhattan Transfer has done over the years. I'm sure the loss of Tim Hauser is acutely felt among fans and band members alike. May he rest in peace.
