Orleans...

"Still The One" was a hit from the late 70s…

Many years later, it still makes me grin.  I have always liked this rather dated rock song.  It just makes me feel good.  I remember it was commercially popular, too.  At one time, it was used by ABC to promote its programming…

I remember that announcer.  He was around all the time in the 70s and 80s.

Orleans also had a well-liked song called "Dance With Me", which was pretty standard for the era.

These guys fit right in with the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Firefall, and the like…

Sadly, I think they were a two hit wonder.  I don't remember any other hits by them.  I liked the ones they were known for, though.  And for some weird reason, their music popped into my head today.  I see I haven't blogged about them yet, so I'm doing it now.  And hell, I think I'll even try to sing my favorite song by them, just for shits and giggles.

Okay, so this is the first time I've done this.  I put it in a lower key because I didn't feel like belting.  I always feel self-conscious when Bill is around, though he's heard me sing a thousand times.  I think it works.  I might try it again sometime.

I miss bands like Orleans.  I think I was born about 10-15 years too late.
