Happy Pi Day...

And for the nerdy of us, here's a song by Kate Bush for today...

I think Aerial might be among my favorite of her albums.  Hard to believe it's been out since 2005.  It still makes me cry when I listen to it.  A friend of mine is getting married today, so this is dedicated to her.

There aren't too many songs that celebrate pi, so here you go...  I hate math myself, but I do love this song and almost any other Kate has done.

Songs for Bill...

I'm sitting here thinking about songs that sum up how I feel about my husband.  One song that immediately comes to mind is this chestnut by Linda Ronstadt, Emmylou Harris, and Dolly Parton when they were in their "Trio" days…

"To Know Him Is To Love Him" was written by Phil Spector and has been covered plenty of times, but this version seems to speak loudest to me.  Maybe it's because I'm an 80s kid.

"Goin' Wild For You, Baby" is another song that has been done by a lot of singers.  This version by Bonnie Raitt is the one I like best, at least so far.  I would love to be able to sing it for Bill at some point.  Need to take piano or guitar lessons.

When Bill and I were dating, I made him a music mix and this song, "Feel It", was on it…

"Come Rain or Come Shine" by Dinah Washington is another one that makes me think of my husband, especially since rain may be coming.

And so does this classic starring Dinah Washington and Brook Benton…  "Baby, You Got What It Takes"…

"Lover Man" is a song Bill loves… especially when I sing it.  Maybe I'll record a version today.

Hmm… this makes me want to sing rather than write.  Maybe I'll come back to this post.

Going 90s era alternative...

I recorded a couple of new songs yesterday for YouTube.  I was surprised and delighted to find instrumental versions  of these songs because I had wanted to try them for a long time… I was especially wanting to cover Sinead O'Connor's version of Elton John's "Sacrifice".  It was hard to make  videos for these songs, but videos are not really my forte anyway.

I think Sinead O'Connor did a great job with Elton's song.  I'd rather do her version than his.

I like what Kate Bush did with "Rocket Man", too… though I prefer Elton's version to hers.

It was fun to do these songs, though.  I want to get a mixer to soften the feedback when I do higher notes.

The Man With The Child In His Eyes...

This is another gorgeous Kate Bush song...

from her 1978 album The Kick Inside...

I gave it a shot today.  I think it turned out decently.  The video made my husband cry, even though it's just more photos from our travels.

Feel It...

One of my favorite Kate Bush songs...  I sent my husband a copy of this when we were dating and he found it quite the turn on.

I actually recorded this today.  It's not easy to sing.  Kate Bush is one of my favorite singers ever and this song really captures an intimate post date tryst.
