Obscure PSAs...

Sometimes I get hung up on old songs and old TV.  Having grown up in the 70s and 80s, there are plenty of old songs and shows and commercials I remember.  One in particular is driving me nuts...

It was a PSA about teachers and it had a memorable jingle sung by what sounded like a black woman with a big voice.  I remember the chorus went, "Teaching's more than showing how, it's helping people grow."  Then the lady belts out, "We're your partners, we're your friends!  We want your future to shine, yes we do!  We'll be there to lend a hand..."

I don't remember the rest of the song, but I do remember the melody.  The only teaching PSA I found on YouTube that I remember was this one...

This one features the song "Wake Up Everbody" by Harold Melvin and the Bluenotes...

Another one I remember but can't find was done by the LDS church.  It featured two little kids sitting together as a chorus of kids sang a cutesy little song about sharing...

It went, "One plus one is two.  That's two together come share your life with me, together we'll have FUN!"

I don't remember the rest of the words, but I do remember the melody and how the kids looked... and the feel good fuzziness of the ad, which was sponsored by The Mormons!

The sad thing is I came along at a time when people could record things, so it's entirely likely someone out there has these things on an old video somewhere...  So I can't just give up and think I'll never see them.  I usually do eventually find these old relics from the past.

    1. Your mom is the first person I've run into who also remembers that PSA. It used to run all the time. I don't know why it hasn't found its way to YouTube yet.
